About Waikato WritersThe Waikato Writer's group originally formed as the Hamilton Branch of New Zealand Society of Authors when 20 local writers met in a lecture room at the University of Waikato on Friday August 12, 2011.
The first elected executive included Peter Blakeborough (chairman), Tui Allen (deputy chair), Paul Gilbert (secretary), and Jeff Taylor (treasurer). Today the membership has increased to over 60 local writers with between 20 and 30 members attending our monthly meetings. We strive to make the meetings interesting with a variety of speakers and writing activities. It's an excellent opportunity to discuss your work with like minded individuals and talk about everything to do with writing and publishing. We continue to be a not-for-profit organisation and are able to deliver stimulating discussions and professional speakers across a range of genres. |
